Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been the brand ambassador of L’oreal for as long as we could remember. She has been representing the one of the leading international cosmetics company at the Cannes Film Festival, for almost the same period of time. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been turning heads, with her impeccable choices of articles of clothing and makeup, year after year, on the prestigious, star-studded, red carpet of the Cannes Film Festival.
In the year 2016, people were a little bamboozled when Aishwarya Rai came to the red carpets, sporting a purple colored lipstick. She has always been the talk of the town for her elegance but this time, social media had a divided opinion on the rather unusual color of the lipstick. While few of her fans admired her for bravery, but, many trolled her for the same. Not everyone liked the color and had different opinions.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, recently, in an interview with a leading publication, Vogue, was asked to shed some thoughts on this whole saga. She said “Red carpet events are a part of our public life- it’s familiar turf. I dress according to my role at, and the nature of, the event. With Cannes, I represent my cosmetics brand, and the atmosphere allows creativity to take flight. You should have fun and enjoy fashion like art- bring a bit of yourself to it and work in tandem with the creative team. When we did the purple lips, we were having fun, not trying to set a trend. But look at fashion spreads and beauty trends today – they’re all about color! I am largely associated with classic, traditional choices, so it became a big talking point at the time. But, for me, this isn’t my first and last time – I like to try out different things.”
It’s so true. The trend has caught on. People love wearing non-traditional lipstick colors today. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has always promoted the classic lipstick colors for the cosmetic company, but it’s the creativity that counts and taking risks and getting rewarded is just part of the process.
The publication asked Aishwarya Rai if she has any advice for the youngsters and the debutantes. To which Aishwarya said “For the younger lot, if you’re willing to work hard every day, give what you have and work at creating your own identity, you’ll be okay. There are always role models for inspiration, so get inspired but be yourself.”
What are your thoughts on the whole purple colored lipstick episode? We personally loved the color on Aishwarya Rai. It showed a new side to her personality, which we simply adored.
