It was kinda obvious, wasn’t it? Heroine went into production few days back and the news of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan being pregnant surfaced around.
UTV in-fact has officially confirmed now that their in-production film “The Heroine”, headlining Aishwarya Rai, has been sacked and dropped due to Aishwarya Rai’s pregnancy.
I remember how in my last article about the same film, there was so much adrenaline rush about the film and the announcement and the production. This film “Heroine” was announced with much fanfare in the Cannes Film Festival on May 13. And on June 7, the film production began, right here in Mumbai. Just 13 days into production and Mr. Amitabh Bachchan announced on twitter that Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan are expecting their first child together.
Soon after, UTV released a press statement, which stated “At this point nothing is more important than Aishwarya’s well being and good health. In that context, we have all mutually agreed that the best step would be to avoid shooting further rather than proceeding with an incredibly demanding schedule over the coming months. Even as we will truly miss this opportunity to work with Aishwarya, the entire unit wishes her the very best for the exciting time ahead.”
According to Mid Day, Aishwarya is five months pregnant and director Madhur Bhandarkar is not prepared to take any chances.
A ten day schedule for the film has already been shot and special sets erected. As a result, cancellation of the project will entail losses for co-producers UTV and Madhur Bhandarkar.
Obviously Madhur Bhandarkar was not happy with Aishwarya Rai as she did not reveal in her contract about the pregnancy. But i think all will end well. I mean, what good is a movie when compared to motherhood and a child. I am sure things will work out between them, and if not “Heroine”, they will have some other project to work on, in the future.
