Aishwarya Rai 250x333 Aishwarya Rai In Shyam Benegals Next Movie

Aishwarya Rai

Aishwarya Rai has had such a busy 2010. And now, the news is that Aishwarya Rai will reportedly play lead in Shyam Benegal’s next, a female oriented film that will begin production, somewhere in 2011.

The film is described as a special project that takes Aishwarya Rai Bachchan into a different time zone. However, it is not a period film. Aishwarya told DNA, “I’ve been working so hard this year that I haven’t had a chance to look at scripts. But yes, the one that Shyam Benegal has given me is very very special. We’ve been meaning to work with one another for years.”

Shyam Benegal (if you don’t already know him) is a prolific Indian director and screenwriter. With his first four feature films Ankur (1973), Nishant (1975) Manthan (1976) and Bhumika (1977) he created a new genre, which has now come to be called the “middle cinema” in India. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 1976 and the Padma Bhushan in 1991. On 8 August 2007, he was awarded the highest award in Indian cinema for lifetime achievement, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for the year 2005. He has won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi seven times. His last movie was in year 2009, named “Well Done Abba”. And it was really really a great movie. So high expectations again from the next movie :d

Aishwarya Rai has still lot movies coming up. Here is the list of the forthcoming films:

  • Endhiran directed by Shankar with co-stars Rajnikant and Danny Denzongpa due in theaters on September 24.
  • Action Replayy directed by Vipul Amrutlal Shah with co-stars Akshay Kumar, Arjun Rampal, Neha Dhupia, Randhir Kapoor and Ranvijay Singh due for release on November 5.
  • Guzaarish directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali with co-stars Hrithik Roshan, Aditya Bal, Monikangana Dutta and Nafisa Ali due in theaters on November 19.

I seriously have great expectation from all these movies. I hope they do not meet with the same fate that our Beera “Raavan” had. At least Guzaarish will be a major hit, am pretty sure about that. :)
