Aishwarya & Abhishek Bachchan

Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan recently paired up as co stars for the much hyped Mani Ratnam’s movie “Raavan“. After success of films like “Guru” people have accepted the real life couple in reel life as well. Undoubtedly they look a great pair together. These days their charm has taken over on film industry as well. The Ash-Abhi pair has been signed in again for an upcoming spy thriller film called “Crooked“.

The film “Crooked” will be directed by Abhinay Deo. He earlier mentioned that besides Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan, he also signed up Gul Panag, Jimmy Shergill and Boman Irani for the film. The film only has been named as “Crooked” tentatively. We will soon find out what all we can expect from the movie when the film production commences.

Apparently, the movie “Crooked” is believed to be inspired by the famous Matt Damon starrer movie “The Bourne Identity“. According to the producer of the movie, Ritesh SidhwaniOur slick espionage thriller will be in the same genre as “The Bourne Identity”. It will be shot in Greece, Istanbul, Thailand and India“. Well those who have not watched the 2002 film “The Bourne Identity”, well here is the storyline of that movie “On a stormy night, the spy thriller opens as an amnesiac is rescued at sea by the crew of an Italian fishing boat. Nearly dead, he carries nothing but the bullets in his back and the bank account number embedded in his hip. Although completely without identity or background, he possesses an array of extraordinary talents in fighting, linguistics and self-defense that speak of a dangerous past. In the present he is disoriented and wary as he is propelled into an urgent search to discover who he is and why his life has taken a perilous turn.

Ritesh Sidhwani also added “The English-language title will most probably change”. So sooner or later we will know the true title of the movie. Till then, i will refer to the movie as Crooked. :)

By the way, Abhinay Deo is currently wrapping up the comedy film “Delhi Belly“, starring Imran Khan and Shenaz Treasuryvala. And on the other hand Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan are trying to complete filming for Mani Ratnam’s “Raavan” shortly.

Because of all the hype about the movie “Raavan”, people now have high expectation from the movie. And if this movie goes onto become a major hit, then believe me, we are going to see plenty more of Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan together as couple in movies. Hopping for the best! :)

Randhir Kapoor & Aishwarya Rai In Action Replay

Gorgeous Aishwarya Rai

Randhir Kapoor, one of the finest legendary actors in Indian cinema, is coming back to bollywood after a very long break. It’s nothing new these days that bollywood actors of 80’s and 90’s are coming back to bollywood to start their second innings in the glitzy tinsel town. But honestly, i never expected Randhir Kapoor to make a comeback and it really would be good to see him, on screen, once again. :)

Vipul Shah is the guy behind the movie which he named as “Action Replay“. As i have heard about it, Vipul Shah is all excited about Randhir Kapoor acting in his movie and he has penned a great character role especially for Randhir Kapoor in this flick.

According to Vipul, he is all excited about Randhir Kapoor in “Action Replay”. A newspaper quoted Vipul Shah as saying, “I’m a fan of Randhir and Rishi Kapoor. It was a dream come true when I got a chance to work with Chintuji (Rishi Kapoor) in ‘Namastey London’. Look at how many wonderful roles and films he signed after that. Now I’m hoping that after “Action Replay”, Randhirji too will be doing more films.” We all hope so, on the same lines Mr. Shah. Of course it will be good to see Randhir Kapoor in films again.

Off late, the last time Randhir Kapoor graced silver screen was with Honey Irani’s “Armaan”, where he essayed the role of a father to vivacious Preity Zinta. Randhir Kapoor will be seen in this movie as a scientist in his engrossing time traveling tale. Elucidating about the film, Vipul said, “Randhirji doesn’t play a mad scientist with his hair flying rebelliously and all kinds of fumes and fires escaping from the lab. Instead, He plays a calm scientist lost in his own world.”

Oops… i almost forgot. The leading stars of the movie will be our favorite Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starring opposite the Bollywood’s king Akshay Kumar. Wow, many know that Bachchan’s and Kapoor’s have strained relations. Now with Bachchan’s bahu Aishwarya Rai sharing same space with Randhir Kapoor on the film sets, would that bring the two bollywood rivals together or are we going to see some new doze of war-of-words. I just hope for the best! ;)

Really eager to see this movie though. Wishing Aishwarya all the goodness, wellness, success and wishes for this movie!!!

Aishwarya And Abhishek’s Dhun

I do believe that you all remember Mani Ratnam’s superhit movie “Guru”. Ace cinematographer Rajiv Menon captured some really beautiful moments between Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan in that movie. It still is one of my favorite movies, till date.

Rajiv Menon is now all set to direct a new movie, with Aishwarys Rai and Abhishek as it’s leading stars. So we all get to see the couple once again in a bollywood flick. That would really be a treat for many. This movie has been titled “Dhun“. Rajiv in a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama already confirmed as he said “Yes…Abhishek and Aishwarya are starring in my next directorial venture titled Dhun. It’s a film where music plays a very important role. The film goes on floors sometime in June this year.” So that’s it. June 2009, hot weather, grab some soft drinks, some popcorns and a seat in your nearby movie hall and watch “Dhun”. That’s one of the better ways to beat the heat ;)

However, the movie already went into some questioning by media as the rumors began that “Dhun” is pretty similar to Jaya Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan starrer “Abhimaan“. I hope you all remember watching it. The storyline looks pretty much same as on now. But Rajiv Menon has already cleared that there is no similarity except the fact that the characters in his film also play musicians. Even Abhishek Bachchan supported his clarification on the fact that “Dhun” has nothing to do with “Abhimaan”. So that rumor should end now.

The film is coming from the production house of Eros International. But what interests me more is that the music will be provided by none other than the Oscar winner A.R. Rahman. Some people might be questioning if A.R. Rahman can recreate the magic in his music that we all heard and appreciated in “Guru”. I bet he can. He is an Oscar winner. And he is king of music. He surely will provide even better music for “Dhun”. Just can’t wait for the music release of the movie Dhun. :)

Honestly, i am really looking forward to the movie already. I just hope the movie has something good to offer to it’s audience. Specially after success of “Guru”, people might have high expectations from the movie and from the best couple in bollywood, Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan. Would love to see them on screen, once again!

The Curious Case of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Nah…. Probably the title will give you a wrong idea about this post. But let us clear it up for you!

In December 2008, there came a great movie titled “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”. Directed by David Fincher and starring the Hollywood’s top gun Brad Pitt, the film was a nice little success. The whole movie revolves around the guy named Benjamin Button, played by Brad Pitt, who actually was born as an old man in the movie and starts getting younger as he grows old. Bizarre? Haan….

The movie actually did pretty good and was even nominated both in Oscars and BAFTA awards this year for best actor, best motion picture, among many more. It managed to get few Oscars for art direction, make up, visual effects etc. but no real biggies. So you can imagine, that it wasn’t the best-est of movies in 2008, but still was pretty damn good. Having watched the movie myself, i do think a Bollywood remake of it will do well in India. And that’s what we are talking here about.

Yes, it is true that a desi remake of ” The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” is in progress. What excites me more is that Akshay Kumar has been casted for the role of Benjamin Button. And Aishwarya Rai has been casted as the leading actress opposite Akshay in the movie. She will most likely play the role of Daisy (played by Cate Blanchett in english version). Humm.. It would be good to see Akshay and Aishwarya together once again after they made a great success in the movie Khakee! I really think they looked sensational in that movie. “Wada Raha” song is still one of my favorites. Anyways, about the film, well it’s being directed by Vipul Shah. Accroding to him “What we are attempting is very ambitious and it hasn’t happened in Indian cinema before. The film is an out-and-out romantic comedy but reversing time is the challenging element. We’re putting in a lot of effort to pull off this one. We have to keep improvising on our content and technical abilities all the time.”

The movie will start with Akshay Kumar as a 62 year old person and end with him being a trendy, fashionable dude who loves to wear bell bottoms and wide belts. So we are probably looking at bit of humor in the movie as well. :)

If this movie does half as good as what the original “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” did, then we are here for a great treat. By the way, the movie is to be completed and released around November or December. That’s the same time wherein Shahrukh Khan plans to launch his film “My Name is Khan” and Aamir Khan also plans to launch his “3 Idiots” :)

Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai is set to star in a major film about the Taj Mahal, India’s famous monument to love.

Aishwarya will play the role of Mumtaz Mahal, the favorite wife of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan who built the stunning monument for her.

Oscar-winning actor Sir Ben Kingsley, who will also be producing the $30m film, will play Shah Jahan. Aishwarya is no doubt, one of Bollywood’s top stars and is hugely popular around the world.

The as yet untitled film will be produced by Sir Ben and is scheduled to be shot in India in 2008, Rai’s foreign agent Simone Sheffield told the BBC News website.

The director of the film has not yet been chosen and the script has yet to be completed, Ms Sheffield said.

Another Bollywood actress and former model, Bipasha Basu, will be playing the role of Shah Jahan’s daughter, Jahanara. Ms Sheffield said Sir Ben had met Basu while co-hosting the Seven New Wonders of the World event in Lisbon in July, where they had discussed the role.

Ms Sheffield said Aishwarya was “considering two other films” for next spring.

“She is special because she can play different ages and ethnicities. Because of this, many producers and directors think of her in a wide range of roles,” she said.

Well, all we can say is to wish you Good luck in everything you do Ash.

This has to be the biggest film ever, for Aishwarya Rai. :)

Hollywood actor Steve Martin in an upcoming sequel to the iconic ‘The Pink Panther.’

To be directed by Harald Zwart of Agent Cody Banks fame, the sequel will also have Andy Garcia, John Cleese and Alfred Molina. Jean Reno and Emily Mortimer will be back as Ponton and Nicole.

Rai’s business manager Harii Singh confirmed the news, first reported by Variety magazine. “It is true that Aishwarya has signed the film,” he said. The film is slated for release in 2009, and the “principal photography” will begin in France next month, Singh said. “Aishwarya will finish the dubbing for Ashutosh Gowariker’s Akbar Jodha and the shooting of Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Sarkar 2’ before starting on The ‘Pink Panther 2.’ From the first week of September to the end of October, she will be shooting outside India,” Singh added.

Ash will play one of the detectives along with Villain Molina and Garcia. They will join French police detective Jacques Clouseau, played by Martin.

To be co-produced by Columbia Pictures and MGM, the film will be distributed by Warner Brothers. Based on the 1964 Peter Sellers’ original, ‘The Pink Panther’ collected over $140 million last year.

Aishwarya Sheds Glamour Image, Surprises Ram Gopal Varma

For the first time in her career Aishwarya Rai goes completely makeup-free for Ram Gopal Varma’s Sarkar. He has had the time of his life shooting with the Bachchans, including their Bahu Aishwarya Rai.

Exults Ramu, “Very frankly I was wondering what she had in store considering I had never worked with her before. And considering the Sarkar sequel is a dark intense raw and real film I was apprehensive about how far Aishwarya Rai would be able to shed her immense glamor.”

But the Bachchan bahu took Ramu by surprise. “She shocked me with her performance. Without too many rehearsals and certainly without attending any pre-shoot workshop (I work, I don’t shop) Aishwarya has stood up to Amitji and Abhishek in every scene. Audiences will be shocked with her performance.”

Apparently Ramu is already planning a third part to the Sarkar saga. “I can’t see the film working without her. But to quote me as saying the film could’ve worked with Mr Bachchan and Abhishek but not without Aishwarya is like saying the Godfather could do without Brando and Pacino.”

Aishwarya And Abhishek To Split For Sarkar Raj

The title if misread will definitely give you goosebumps. No the couple ain’t splitting in real life but yes in the reel life. Bollywood’s most beautiful couple, Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan, will have to watch each other play the role of spouse to another in the upcoming film “Sarkar Raj.”

Aishwarya Rai, the 1994 Miss World, and Abhishek Bachchan, son to legendary Bollywood actors Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan were married in April of this year but when they share the screen in “Sarkar Raj” they will be anything but friendly.

Aishwarya will play the role of an independent woman caught up in the corporate world and power games. According to director Ram Gopal Varma, “We’ve worked hard on the look. The glamour of Aishwarya in ‘Sarkar Raj’ will be that she won’t be glamorous. She’s so intrinsically beautiful it will be a challenge to make her look simple. But I want her to look like nothing she has done so far.”

In many ways the film, a sequel to “Sarkar,” is similar to “The Godfather” with the political maneuverings inside an underworld family.

We just hope that Sarkar Raj gets as much audience support as Sarkar itself did get. Of course Ram Gopal Varma will be hoping for the success similar to what “The Godfather” got! :)

Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai will play a powerful woman who manages mob business in a new film with her husband and father-in-law, a newspaper reported on Monday.

In the movie Sarkar 2, Aishwarya Rai plays a daughter-in-law who moves from taking care of the home of an underworld kingpin to a shrewd manager of organized crime.

“She (Rai) will shock audiences” director Ram Gopal Varma told The Times of India newspaper. “To say she’ll be portrayed like never before would be an understatement.”

The movie is a sequel to the 2005 hit movie Sarkar about a ruthless mob boss played by Amitabh Bachchan and his son, Abhishek Bachchan, who stars as his right-hand man. It will be the first time the three actors appear on screen together after Rai wed Abhishek Bachchan last month.

The sequel takes the plot forward with the older Bachchan ailing and the younger Bachchan and Rai working together to ensure they retain control over his crime syndicate.

Varma did not disclose when he would start filming the movie, but the Indian media have reported shooting will start later this year.

A green-eyed former model, Rai, 33, will wear no makeup for her new role, Varma said.

“Nobody would expect a looker like her to portray such a dark character” he said. “Her beauty won’t be enhanced by filters and shaded lighting. She’ll be totally without makeup.”

One of Bollywood’s most recognizable faces abroad, Rai was at the Cannes Film Festival last week as part of a team of models for cosmetics company L’Oreal.
