Aishwarya Rai made the Bachchan and Rai family proud on 31st March’2009 when she was presented with Padma Shri Award 2009. Not only the families but i guess this is a proud moment for every fan follower of Aishwarya Rai. At least i am pretty happy for her. Padma Shri Award was presented by Pratibha Patil at the function in the Ashoka Hall of Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Aishwarya Rai
The Bachchan family seems to have all the reason to be happy. After all, the tag of the Padma Awards seems hard to be leaving from the family. Amitabh Bachchan himself is an awardee of Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan. His wife, Jaya Bachchan, is an awardee of Padma Shri, and father, Dr. Harivansh Rai Bachchan, had been conferred with Padma Bhushan. And now Ash simply adds another feather to the cap. Ahem! now that’s Bachchan’s family for you.
Besides Aishwarya Rai, our Bolywood’s real king, Akshay Kumar also got Padma Shri award 2009. He and wife, Twinkle, certainly had a great joy as well. Veteran actress and dancing queen of yester-years, Helen, was also bestowed with the Padma Shri for her contribution to art and cinema. Famous playback singer of yester-year, Shamshad Begum, and director of the central board of Reserve Bank of India, Ashok Shekhar Ganguly were among other prominent persons to get the prestigious award from the president.
Dr. Kakodkar received the Padma Vibhushan awards for his contribution to the field of nuclear science and technology.
Padma Awards, that is to say, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri aka Padmashree are given for exceptional and distinguished service in any field including service rendered by Government servants.
Our heartiest congratulations to our queen of hearts, Aishwarya Rai and kind Akshay Kumar for this achievement. Truly well deserved.
Update:I did manage to get some scans of the beautiful actress being awarded the Padma Shri award. And some sphotos of others moments from the function as well. Hope you enjoy ‘em.

Aishwarya n Abhishek
I do believe that you all remember Mani Ratnam’s superhit movie “Guru”. Ace cinematographer Rajiv Menon captured some really beautiful moments between Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan in that movie. It still is one of my favorite movies, till date.
Rajiv Menon is now all set to direct a new movie, with Aishwarys Rai and Abhishek as it’s leading stars. So we all get to see the couple once again in a bollywood flick. That would really be a treat for many. This movie has been titled “Dhun“. Rajiv in a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama already confirmed as he said “Yes…Abhishek and Aishwarya are starring in my next directorial venture titled Dhun. It’s a film where music plays a very important role. The film goes on floors sometime in June this year.” So that’s it. June 2009, hot weather, grab some soft drinks, some popcorns and a seat in your nearby movie hall and watch “Dhun”. That’s one of the better ways to beat the heat
However, the movie already went into some questioning by media as the rumors began that “Dhun” is pretty similar to Jaya Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan starrer “Abhimaan“. I hope you all remember watching it. The storyline looks pretty much same as on now. But Rajiv Menon has already cleared that there is no similarity except the fact that the characters in his film also play musicians. Even Abhishek Bachchan supported his clarification on the fact that “Dhun” has nothing to do with “Abhimaan”. So that rumor should end now.
The film is coming from the production house of Eros International. But what interests me more is that the music will be provided by none other than the Oscar winner A.R. Rahman. Some people might be questioning if A.R. Rahman can recreate the magic in his music that we all heard and appreciated in “Guru”. I bet he can. He is an Oscar winner. And he is king of music. He surely will provide even better music for “Dhun”. Just can’t wait for the music release of the movie Dhun.
Honestly, i am really looking forward to the movie already. I just hope the movie has something good to offer to it’s audience. Specially after success of “Guru”, people might have high expectations from the movie and from the best couple in bollywood, Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan. Would love to see them on screen, once again!

Aishwarya always looks pretty. So this is nothing new in regards to Aishwarya Rai. But i guess it’s her dress up that made us want to post this news.
I guess many of you have already seen the 54th Filmfare awards that was telecast few days back. If you missed, well we really can’t help it. However you will surely see the award function’s re-run soon on television. Because Indian Channels just can’t stop repeating their telecast over and over again!
For me, the limelight of the show were three people. First being our beautiful queen of bollywood, Aishwarya Rai, who came along the Bachchans of course. Second was our very own Umraao Jaan, the one and only Rekha and the third one being the man being a hot discussion not only in India but all over world. Yes, i am talking about Oscar winner Mr. A.R. Rehman!
Alright, so i am getting the feeling that i am moving off topic by talking about fun and entertainment at Filmfare awards rather than talking about the ever so pretty Aishwarya Rai. So coming to back to the topic, Aishwarya wore a wonderful, dignified and a majestic sari this time around with her hair tied up at back. Sh looked a stunning beauty. I missed seeing Jaya Bachchan ji at the award function though. Okay, i really have no words to describe the glow on Aishwarya’s face and the sheer beauty that she undoubtedly, was looking that evening. And this time i am reminded more of the proverb that says “Pictures speak louder than words”. So cutting my commentary short, here are few pics of Aishwarya Rai from the Filmfare Award function that held at Yashraj Studios, Mumbai.

Aishwarya Rai
The title if misread will definitely give you goosebumps. No the couple ain’t splitting in real life but yes in the reel life. Bollywood’s most beautiful couple, Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan, will have to watch each other play the role of spouse to another in the upcoming film “Sarkar Raj.”
Aishwarya Rai, the 1994 Miss World, and Abhishek Bachchan, son to legendary Bollywood actors Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan were married in April of this year but when they share the screen in “Sarkar Raj” they will be anything but friendly.
Aishwarya will play the role of an independent woman caught up in the corporate world and power games. According to director Ram Gopal Varma, “We’ve worked hard on the look. The glamour of Aishwarya in ‘Sarkar Raj’ will be that she won’t be glamorous. She’s so intrinsically beautiful it will be a challenge to make her look simple. But I want her to look like nothing she has done so far.”
In many ways the film, a sequel to “Sarkar,” is similar to “The Godfather” with the political maneuverings inside an underworld family.
We just hope that Sarkar Raj gets as much audience support as Sarkar itself did get. Of course Ram Gopal Varma will be hoping for the success similar to what “The Godfather” got!

Bollywood movie stars Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai visited a specialist charity centre in Leeds.
Bachchan and his daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai visited the Sense Rodney Clark Resource Centre in Leeds, a specialist centre that offers vocational, educational and arts facilities for people who are both deaf and blind.
” As you know IIFA is here to celebrate Indian cinema and whereas we have the award ceremony and the celebrations but I think it is vital that we also associate ourselves with some of the more social work that is being conducted in the region which is hosting us. So whether it is a charity match that we are about to play a little later on for a noble cause, whether it is associating ourselves with global cool which is going to look after the global warming issue or whether it is to spend some time with this very noble institution ‘Sense’. ” the actor told reporters.
Bachchan played the part of the inspirational tutor of a deaf-blind child in the 2005 film `Black`. An experience that taught him a lot.
” I did a film some years ago where I was a teacher and there was a little girl who was deaf dumb and blind and we did go through a course of learning some basic sign language to be able to communicate in the film. When you are dealing with a character who is physically challenged in this manner and you have to do a film I think your task is doubly tortuous because not only are you trying to convey to your colleague who is physically handicapped what I am saying but I have to interpret what she is saying to me and because she cannot speak therefore the audience can not hear what she is says so I have to repeat what she says and we had to build the scene accordingly. “
He was approached by Sense to visit the centre to raise awareness of deaf -blindness whilst he is in England for the International Indian Film Awards (IIFA) taking place in Sheffield.
Often dubbed the “Godfather” of Indian cinema, Bachchan has appeared in over 160 films and has a multitude of awards and recognitions to his name.
In 1999 he was voted the Movie star of the Millennium in a BBC online poll, beating stars such as Robert De Niro, Charlie Chaplin and Sir Alec Guiness.
Aishwarya Rai is the most famous actress in Bollywood. She is renowned for being the first woman to make the crossover from Bollywood to Hollywood. A former Miss World, she is the face of De Beers diamonds and L`Oreal.
She recently married Abhishek Bachchan in a lavish wedding ceremony in India. Her new husband was also present in Yorkshire.
