Padma Shri Award For Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Posted By AishwaryaWeb on 2nd April 2009

Aishwarya Rai made the Bachchan and Rai family proud on 31st March’2009 when she was presented with Padma Shri Award 2009. Not only the families but i guess this is a proud moment for every fan follower of Aishwarya Rai. At least i am pretty happy for her. Padma Shri Award was presented by Pratibha Patil at the function in the Ashoka Hall of Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The Bachchan family seems to have all the reason to be happy. After all, the tag of the Padma Awards seems hard to be leaving from the family. Amitabh Bachchan himself is an awardee of Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan. His wife, Jaya Bachchan, is an awardee of Padma Shri, and father, Dr. Harivansh Rai Bachchan, had been conferred with Padma Bhushan. And now Ash simply adds another feather to the cap. Ahem! now that’s Bachchan’s family for you.

Besides Aishwarya Rai, our Bolywood’s real king, Akshay Kumar also got Padma Shri award 2009. He and wife, Twinkle, certainly had a great joy as well. Veteran actress and dancing queen of yester-years, Helen, was also bestowed with the Padma Shri for her contribution to art and cinema. Famous playback singer of yester-year, Shamshad Begum, and director of the central board of Reserve Bank of India, Ashok Shekhar Ganguly were among other prominent persons to get the prestigious award from the president.

Dr. Kakodkar received the Padma Vibhushan awards for his contribution to the field of nuclear science and technology.

Padma Awards, that is to say, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri aka Padmashree are given for exceptional and distinguished service in any field including service rendered by Government servants.

Our heartiest congratulations to our queen of hearts, Aishwarya Rai and kind Akshay Kumar for this achievement. Truly well deserved. :)

Update:I did manage to get some scans of the beautiful actress being awarded the Padma Shri award. And some sphotos of others moments from the function as well. Hope you enjoy ‘em.

Desirable Aishwarya

Askmen.com is a free online destination for men, a men’s portal, designed to provide men with daily features on subject matter that interests the general male population. The latest feature on their website is about the top 99 desirable women in the world with Jessica Alba making it to the number one position.

But it won’t come as a surprise to know that Aishwarya Rai and Mallika Sherawat feature amongst the top 99 of the most desirable women on Askmen.com. Aishwarya Rai is placed on number 40. Last year, she featured on number 47. Not far behind is Mallika Sherawat on number 78.

With rising awareness of such contents and votings, you can expect more and more bollywood celebrities down the years. But remember, it was Aishwarya Rai who became the first from Bollywood! And that too deservingly.

With oodles of talent and jaw-dropping look, the two beauties have been reining Bollywood for some time now. They have not only become a household name in India but also are gaining international fame and accolades.

Aishwarya Rai has already created a niche for herself in the international market with loads of good work in her kitty. With her impending marriage with Abhishek Bachchan being much talked about, she is surely at the peak of her career right now. Mallika’s claim to fame was the film Murder, after which there was no stopping her! Both these stunning beauties were recently seen in Mani Ratnam’s Guru.

But the fact accepted by many is that Aishwarya came into the top 40 number with her sheer power of beauty and beauty alone! For me and many others, she is still the number one most desirable women in Bollywood indsutry! ;)
